White Hill

White Hill, also known as Chalky Hill, starts from Slip Lane and leads to Chalksole & Lydden. All the names for the old lanes around Alkham derive from their original use unlike housing estates of today with Petunia Drive. There is Hogbrook Lane (pig & dyke), Chalksole Green Lane (Chalk, hole & public land), Greenwood Slip (Slip is also lane), Cowgate Lane, Warren Lane, Holloway Lane, Meggett Lane (maggot), The Forstal (fore stall in front of Church for lost cattle etc.)  FYI: It has great views of bluebells in Spring.
